Receiving God’s clear call to mission is a profound and transformative experience for any believer. The Bible provides numerous examples and directives that highlight the importance of this divine calling. In Isaiah 6:8, we see a powerful moment where Isaiah responds to God’s call with, “Here am I; send me.” This willingness to go wherever God sends is a hallmark of true discipleship. Similarly, in Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus commands His followers, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.” This Great Commission underscores the responsibility of every Christian to spread the gospel and make disciples of all nations.
A person who is called to a mission will not go empty-handed. Acts 1:8 says, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” The Holy Spirit will empower anyone who answers the call. Embracing God’s call to mission involves sharing the gospel, trusting His guidance, and depending on God for strength.
